BWJFCSeason Reports

Season reports for Brinsworth Whitehill teams from the
2003 / 2004 season to present.

Brinsworth Whitehill Seniors 2006/2007 Season Summary.
Having formed from the Under 18's 4 seasons ago the senior squad have worked hard and after successive promotions and elevations this year find themselves in the Premier League. It will be a very difficult season but with hard work and commitment our aim for this year is to avoid relegation and provide a platform to build on for the future.

Brinsworth Whitehill Under 11's 2004/05 Season Summary.
After being promoted to C division by finishing 3rd last season and playing 11-a-side for the first time, we were unsure of what to expect, but, with the likes of Brampton Rovers, Thorncliffe and Ecclesall Rangers, we knew it would be difficult. The season started in September with a good 4-2 win at Thorncliffe, followed by a defeat at Darfield by the same scoreline and a fine 7-2 away win at Dronfield. October brought 2 more victories, 1 draw and 1 defeat in the league but a superb 5-2 cup victory at Millhouse Juniors, who were 1 division above us. In November we had 2 more league wins, another defeat but continued our cup run by beating Abbey Lane, (also from the B division), away 4-0. 2 League wins in December placed us in 5 th position at the halfway stage, but with games in hand we were starting to realise that with a consistent run we could be in the promotion shake up at the end of the season. However, our cup run came to an end in the quarter- finals. Despite a good performance against SWYO they eventually proved too good for us and ran out 4-1 winners. The weather remained good in January and we were able to record 3 more victories but suffered 2 successive defeats, the only time this would happen all season. One against league leaders Ecclesall, (the only side to record a league double against us), the other, unexpectedly at Wisewood. However, we were not to be deterred and remained unbeaten for the rest of the season with 4 victories and 1 draw. The highlights were a 2-2 draw at Brampton Rovers, a superb game with both sides playing excellent football in a very exciting end to end game and a last game of the season 1-0 victory at home to Champions Darfield.

All season Danny Hallatt was superb in goal with Adam Trow a very good deputy when required. In defence Sam Higgins, (Players Player of the season), and Joseph Karle, (Sportsman of the season), were consistent throughout, being ably supported by Lewis Carder, Stephen Ainsworth and Dominic Skidmore. All 5 managed to get on the score sheet but we will not forget Lewis's last minute winner in a 5-4 scoreline against Dronfield, Stephen's 1 st ever goal, (from the penalty spot), against Whiston Wildcats and Dominic's 1 st ever goal, (after 4 seasons!), a 20 yard screamer against Rotherham Town. The midfield places were rotated by Adam Bell, (Clubman of the season after having a 100% attendance record for both matches and training), Billy Luxon, Aiden Kennedy, Luke O'Neill and Jack Oakland, (14 goals in his first season for us). Again consistency was the key with all 5 only missing 6 games between them. As well as scoring vital goals, (42 from midfield), they created plenty more for our 2 main strikers Jordan Bullen, (17 goals) and Kieran Clark, in his first season for us scoring 28, a remarkable achievement as he played half of the season in midfield.

Overall we were delighted with our final position of 4th, just 2 points off 3rd place, scoring 95 league and cup goals. Darfield, Ecclesall and Brampton deservedly occupied the top 3 and we wish them all the best next season.

Mick Bell.

Brinsworth Whitehill Under 18's 2003/04 Season Summary.
Well done to all of the lads for another good season. We have finished third, 7 points clear of 4th place, completing the double over the League Winners and drawing twice with the second place side. In my opinion we have been the best side in the division on our day and if we could have put more of our chances away, we would have been challenging Dinnington for the title.

We have only lost one league match all season which is the lowest number of any team in the entire league. Unfortunately, we have paid for points dropped through our 8 drawn games, 3 of which were in the first 3 games of the season. Our problem has been converting a higher percentage of the many chances that we have created and our goals scored tally is low for a top 3 side at 62. On the plus side, we only conceded 28 goals, which is one of the lowest numbers of goals against totals in all of the league. This is a tribute to the entire team, not just the excellent defence and keeper.

All of our squad have actually been Under 17 this season, which means that they were all playing a full year below the maximum age group for this league. This obviously means that they are all eligible for a shot at the Premier Division next season. If we can keep the nucleus of this squad together for next season and add 3 or 4 more quality players, there is no reason, why we shouldn't be challenging for the Premier Division Title next season.

Brinsworth Whitehill Seniors 2003/04 Season Summary.
After being promoted 3 divisions last season from Division 7 to Division 4 this has been a consolidating season. We finished a very creditable 5th and bearing in mind that most of the players are still only 19 and 20 years old the future looks bright.

Performances have been excellent especially against higher division teams in the cup competitions and the standard of the football played has been superb.

New Players, John Davies and Carl Mcguiness from last years Under 18's have adapted well and the introduction of Richard Green has softened the blow of losing Gavin Goiuld to a premier division side. James Somerset  has been a very useful addition to our midfield and it was "good" to see an ex Whitehill Rovers player return in the shape of Adrian Good.

As always the rest of the squad James Roebuck, Greg Morton, Jason Talbot, Andy Mchale, Danny Williamson, Jordan Stocks, Shaun Walker, David Walker,Tom Symcox, Scott Roebuck and David Fowler have been reliable but we are looking for additions next season to enhance our squad.

Our long term plan is that Brinsworth Whitehill will host a senior side in the Premier Division and with the age of these lads and the experience they are getting I feel that this will be in the near future rather than the distant.

Thank you Lads and well done.
Ian Walker.
